Flowing into the New Year

New things don't stay new forever. Changes come and we tend to ebb and flow with the seasons. Next thing you know, we're now approaching another new month just as fast as a new week or a new day. So let's cherish the time we have. Time moves ever so quickly right before our eyes and gratitude of the present moment is the only thing that keeps us grounded. My words this year:

RESET ~ GRATITUDE ~ BREAKTHROUGH

For the month of January I've been focusing on the theme of REST, RECHARGE & RESET. I've been urging my students, my friends, and my family to take this opportunity to slow down. Winter is a time to rest and recharge, to hibernate. It's a time where most animals are cozied in their nests, burrowed beneath the ground, or warm in a cave. It is not a time to continue to be busy and rush around; in fact, winter is quite the opposite.

So why don't we follow the guidance of our furry friends? Why do we push ourselves to always be “on” even in a time we so desperately need a break? Why do we ignore the energies of the universe? How come we can’t just slow down and rest?

I think it's because we are just a bunch of humans trying to figure life out while there is so much loud noise around us telling us what to do. So instead of feeling the pressure to join a new gym, sign up for that 30 day challenge, start a new diet, or get rid of all your guilty pleasures, let's try to rest together.

If you feel like you've messed up and you haven’t stuck to those original New Years Resolutions - maybe you’ve had a drink during “Dry January” or you've totally snoozed your alarm most mornings, or you haven't stick to your new routine - don't worry! You are definitely not alone. Most people I talk to have all the same worries, fears, doubts, and self criticism.

I'm here to tell you to STOP.

Stop being so hard on yourself. Stop falling under outside pressure. Stop overloading yourself with unrealistic expectations. Stop shaming yourself. Why?

You are enough. You are trying. You are doing the best that you can. You are smart, kind, brave, beautiful, and worthy of finding balance and happiness in life.

Keep resting. Like really, truly allow yourself to rest and recharge. Remember that a car with a dead battery can't get anywhere. It either needs a little jump start or it might need a whole new battery. Reflect, examine the situation, reassess, and allow yourself the rest to recharge your battery. Then that “New Year, New Me” RESET you've been hoping for, will be a lot easier to obtain.

  • REST

  • RECHARGE

  • RESET

What does rest look like to you?

Maybe you take more naps, go to bed earlier, sleep in later, go to yoga or meditation, take a long hot bath, read a book, or schedule nothing and do nothing; just rest.

Let’s start one little healthy habit at a time as we work on building a happy and healthy lifestyle for ourselves. I’ll help you along the way. Join me for my upcoming Vision Board Workshop to learn how to set SMART goals, figure out your 2024 plan, pick a word for the year, and enjoy community time crafting and boosting our confidence to truly RESET!

Let’s RESET together!
