Acupuncture with Adele

Have you ever gotten acupuncture??? I asked this question on a poll after my session with Adele Muir, licensed acupuncturist, and certified yin/yang yoga instructor, and there were so many of you who’ve never received this magical treatment! So, if you were one of the ones who said no you haven’t, then just take a moment to see why it’s so amazing!! Maybe you’ll be booking an appointment before you know it.

I hate needles. I was deathly afraid of needles ever since I was little and the thought of shots, or blood draws, or acupuncture seemed terrifying. I don’t remember when I got over my fear, but I do remember the first acupuncture appointment I ever had. It was at a communal place where all the clients sit in the same room and the acupuncturist came around, stuck you, then let you sit there and “relax”. I remember not liking the room, the smell, the other people; but I remember the healing. I remember feeling better after my sessions. I remember wanting and needing another session.

Fast forward years later, I’m now in my 20’s experiencing numerous healthy issues and imbalances and seeking acupuncture once again; and it helps!! The new space I go to is amazing and my friend Adele is an expert in all things wellness(basically an expert).

Over at Heartspace Acupuncture in West Annapolis, the space is so clean, cozy, and calming. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a big open lobby space and a neat and organized check in desk. I was greeted by Adele and led right back to my treatment room. In the treatment rooms, they have special air purifiers in place to help filter the air. Each room is cleaned thoroughly top to bottom, with time blocked off for ample cleaning and transition between patients.

At the start of the session, Adele reviews why I’m there to see her, and she reviews my medical history and the plan for treatment that day. This is where I get super excited because the magic is about to begin!

Adele used some moxa during my session which is dried mugwort, a fluffy herb, hand formed into little cones, when burned activates a deeply penetrating infrared heat for deeper healing, promoting circulation in the body, and reduction of inflammation. It smells really good, especially if you’re into incense.

Along with the moxa treatment, Adele used the needles for several pressure points on my body. My favorite she taught me about is called Buddha’s triangle which is a set of 3 points on the wrist; the heart meridian, heart protector, and lung meridian, that help calm the mind and body and help with anxiety and depression.

I mentioned numerous health issues, and you may be wondering what… Adele helps treat ALL of the concerns I come to her with. Hormonal imbalances, PMS, night sweats, lyme disease, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and nausea or headaches. She’s extremely knowledgeable, approachable, kind, and just damn good at what she does.

If you’re craving some health & wellness, want to try something new, or looking to explore other methods of healing; then check in with Adele and see what she can do.

p.s. I sleep like a baby after every session… it’s amazing
