Everything happens for a reason

We hear it all the time. When life gets tough or complicated, someone close to you typically tells you “everything happens for a reason” and you roll your eyes because they're telling you that when you totally don't want to hear it, even though it's probably exactly when you need to hear it. Right?

Then when you look back on that conversation and how sad or low you might have been, you realize they were right. It might still hurt, but everything does happen for a reason.

Every loss, breakup, move, job change, or difficult situation happens for some reason. Usually these moments teach a lesson.

That first true love that helped you grow up when you were still immature and young.

The boss who taught you what is important to look for in a leader.

The heartbreak who's the one that got away but taught you what true passionate love feels like, and what the loss of love feels like.

The job that started out amazing, but made you realize you wanted a different career path.

The person who felt like a dream come true, but taught you to always keep your standards high and make sure you love the person for who they are not what they have or can give.

The places that slowly no longer feel like home that taught you home can be wherever you make it.

The friends that took more than they gave, who taught you what to look for in a good friend.

The ones you lose too soon, who teach you to embrace live everyday and tell the people you care about that you love them.

Every single moment has a really important part in the process and journey of this life we are experiencing. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is pause and take a breath and wait. When you look back, then you’ll realize. You’ll see the lesson in the obstacles. You’ll see the reward in the challenges. You’ll find the peace in the struggles. You’ll understand that everything happens for a reason and you just have to trust the Universe.
